FCC Missions for 2009
First Christian sets aside 23% of our church offering to be used for missions.
10% First Christian Benevolent Fund
The Benevolent Fund will be capped at $600.00 and the balance will be used for the bible college scholarship fund. The benevolent fund is used to assist people in our community that have fallen upon "hard times" with such needs as utility payments, food, house payments, etc. The bible college scholarship fund is set up for any member who decides to attend bible college and needs assistance.

$100.00 Crisis Pregnancy Center
This is an organization that helps people see their options in choosing life. There was an average of 5 visits per day from clients ranging in age from 13 to 45 between January 2001 and November 2001.
$100.00 Memphis Inner City Outreach - Don Todd
Established 12 years ago this church has grown to approximately 200 people. Many are very poor and suffering from substance abuse. They believe in order to make a difference these people need a church home.
$100.00 New Discovery Christian Church-Hernando, Mississippi
A new church work in the metropolitan area of Memphis. One of the fastest growing counties in the midsouth. Over the past ten years it has become home to over 197 new and expanding industries. There is no independent Christian Church in Hernando, a community which averages 1 new family moving in every day. John Wagnon has been hired as a church planner for the volunteer evangelizing association out of west Tennessee. John is married to Wendy and they have 1 son, Javan. He became youth minister in First Christian Church in Harriman in 1992 and became preaching minister there from 1994 till 2003.
$100.00 Tennessee Right to Life
Tennessee Right to Life is a non-profit, public service organization dedicated to protecting and fostering the most basic value of our society-LIFE itself. They promote, uphold, and support reverence and respect for human life without regard to condition, quality, age, religion, race, creed, or color, whether born or unborn. This commitment is derived from a belief that each human being, from the time of fertilization to natural death, has an immeasurable dignity and unalienable right to life.
$100.00 CIY - Christ in Youth
Christ in Youth provides creative opportunities for young people around the world to experience the life changing power of God and His Word. Young people are connected with Jesus and discipled through conferences, service projects, mission trips, and training events; and youth pastors and parents are also encouraged through education and training.
$75.00 God's Jail Ministry - Putnam County
This ministry was established to reach out to the people that have got on the "wrong side of the law" and to show them that Jesus loves even them. They offer Sunday services, women's ministry, men's teaching and spiritual guidance.
$75.00 Upper Cumberland Christian Fellowship
This is an organization of the Upper Cumberland Christian Churches that helps support the summer camp program for our children.
$500.00 Hope Christian Church, Murfreesboro, TN
New Church work that we are helping to start. We have committed to help them for 3 years.
$400.00 Bible College Scholarship Fund
We currently have 3 students enrolled in Bible college. We give $1,000.00 per semester.

10% Christian Church Foundation for Handicapped
Their major goal is sharing Jesus love with people with disabilities and their families. They have started homes in different parts of the country to help families learn to deal with mental retardation
10% Christian City
This facility in Atlanta, GA started as a children's home and has grown into an assisted living home, retirement village, and a nursing home. Approximately 1,100 people make up this facility.
This bible college established in 1893 has trained thousands of students for church related works and has also provided us with a couple of decent ministers!
Don Dugan works with His Seed Sowers and they are teaching the people of Haiti about Jesus. This work began by teaching the people of Haiti how to raise pigs & grow crops.
10% Central India Christian Mission
Missionaries Ajai & Indu Lall spread the gospel to the people of India and establish new churches throughout the area.
This is a children's home in Tijuana, Mexico. Approximately 65 children are cared for here.
5% Lighthouse Christian Camp - Ben Chapman, Director
Located in Smithville, TN, this camp was established in 1982 to reach out to the disadvantaged children throughout middle TN with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
5% White Fields - Reggie Thomas. Director
This organization is trying to teach the gospel around the world. They have started 453 churches - several in India and Africa.
5% Cookeville Rescue Mission - Larry & Betty Self
Established in 1976, this mission shows God's love by offering people a place to stay, providing food and clothing, and help in finding a job and home. They also have medical services available.
5% Christian Student Fellowship - UT Knoxville
Sam Darden is the minister to the fellowship at UT where they offer the college student a Christian environment and a place to grow in their faith.
5% Phil & Michelle Parker - Chiang Mai. Thailand
The Parkers are teaching English as a Second Language in Thailand. They cannot openly teach bible classes but they are starting a fitness center in hopes of starting a small group ministry teaching the people of Thailand about Jesus.
5% Youth Mission Trip for First Christian Church
The youth of First Christian have a week to two week long mission trip each year as well as some special missions projects throughout the year. Money from First Christian helps to underwrite some of the expenses for our Youth to experience missions, This in no way pays their way but simply makes things more affordable for our teens to experience sharing the love of Christ in a variety of situations. From Tijuana, Mexico, a Children's Ranch in Idaho, poverty stricken mountains of Kentucky, Inner city Indianapolis, and serving those in need right here in Cookeville our teens are learning to reach out with compassion.
5% Ap Ma Outreach Project, Jessie & Karie Prvor
Jessie Pryor, the son of John & Bonita Pryor, has returned to Papua, New Guinea with the purpose of building a medical and literacy facility.
5% Dick & Sarah Robison - Portugal
These missionaries work at translating and teaching the word of God to the Portuguese people
