First Christian Church was founded in 1976 as part of a joint Bicentennial effort of the Christian Churches of Tennessee.  The congregation met in buildings around Cookeville as the church steadily grew.

In May of 1976, the church leased the second floor of a building on Washington Avenue where Nichols Jewelry was formally located.

In August 1977, the church initiated its first building program and held its first meeting in their new building on Easter 1978.

In 1986 the second phase of the building program was completed with the addition of educational space, offices, fellowship hall and kitchen.  It was at this time that the church began a daycare ministry known as Noah's Ark. Presently Noah's Ark has approximately 125 children enrolled in this program.

In 1996 the church finished its third phase of building which included a Family Life Center gymnasium, an additional 4,000 square feet of educational space and a new kitchen.

We invite all to come and be a part of a family of believers to worship, grow, and work for the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
